Prepare for your waxing appointment
What to ExpectWaxing can be a very effective way to remove hair and slow down hair growth. For the best experience and results, please follow these simple pre-care instructions
❋ Shower before you serviceYou will need to avoid hot showers and swimming for 24 hours after your wax. If you normally shower during that period then you should do so before your appointment
❋ Avoid lotions and oilsDo not apply lotions or oils prior to the appointment. This can cause the wax not to adhere to the hair we want to remove and making the service unpleasant.
❋ Exercise beforeLike showering, you will have to avoid heavy sweating and exercising for 24 hours after your wax. If you typically would exercise in that 24 hr period, then try to fit it in before your appointment
❋ Do not use AHA and RetinolsExfoliating skin care should be avoided on the waxing area for at lease a 3days prior to the service. It can cause severe skin peeling, burns, and heat sensitivity when you use these products and can cause you to have injuries when waxing due to these chemicals.
Contraindications
Use of skin peeling, skin thinning preparations
Varicose Veins
Mastitis (for underarm waxing only)
Skin disorders or diseases
Bruising or recent haemorrhage, Scar tissue

Bruising.
Diabetes - skin can be slow to heal but can be monitored
Sunburn
Use of sun beds 24 hours prior to waxing
If you are receiving cancer treatment (chemotherapy or radiation).
You can still get waxed during your period, but your skin may be more sensitive than usual.
If you're pregnant, on the pill, or using hormone replacement, your skin can react more strongly. We recommend a small patch test 24 hours before your appointment.
If you smoke or have rosacea, waxing can irritate broken or dilated blood vessels. If the area is very red, it's best to avoid waxing there.
Caffeine and alcohol increase skin sensitivity. Avoid both for a couple of hours before your appointment to reduce redness and inflammation.
If you use exfoliating products containing salicylic acid, AHAs, white willow bark, or enzymes, stop applying them to the waxed area at least 3 days before and 3–4 days after. Combining strong exfoliants with waxing can cause redness, bleeding, or scabbing. If your AHA is over 8%, you may need to stop much earlier — check with us if you're unsure.
